Tried & Tested

We gave a Pulsar Rail 7-in-1 Storm Coat to our expert to see what he thought of this unique coat. Here’s what he thought…
If you’re looking for a jacket that conforms to all the relevant safety standards but is more than just another Hi-Vis coat that isn’t warm enough in the winter and will cook you alive in the summer then this might be the answer!
The Pulsar Rail 7-in-1 Storm Coat seems to have all the right boxes ticked and is highly adaptable to your needs.
The outer shell is made from tough waterproof and breathable 300 denier polyester but this is not a shell that’s going to boil you in the summer. It has carefully placed under-arm zips to allow you to let some fresh air in without the rain following.
Onto the pockets... It’s got plenty of those. Enough to lose your keys in. And even a huge poachers’ pocket that can take up to A4 sized pages! The phone pocket is a good size too.
All the pocket flaps have a reflective piping on them, combined with the 3M tape they shine when light hits them.
Even the hood is a smart design. It’s detachable so you can unzip it if you think it it’s going to be a dry day and it’s also thick enough to keep the heat in when it gets chilly. The collar has got a micro-fleece liner, so it doesn’t irritate you if you’re on-site all day.
Then there’s the inner jacket, for when it gets seriously cold on those typical British summer days.
The jacket has its own collection of pockets, all of which are a decent size and if you don’t need to get too warm the sleeves simply zip off.
You can even buy Hi-Vis sleeves to replace the fleece ones if you want a lighter weight, more weather resistant jacket.
The outer fabric is made from the same material as the storm coat, so will keep you dry from the rain and protected from the wind.
The jacket fits neatly into the storm coat and the collar and sleeves can be secured within it so it comes together as a single unit.
Another nice touch is that the back is slightly longer so your lower back keeps warm if you’re bending over to pick stuff up.
